Event: Tallahassee Trail of DREAMS
Date: Tuesday, February 9, 2010
The march will begin at 11 AM at the fountain in front of the Westcott Building at Florida State University. From there, the march will proceed towards the Front Steps of the Florida Legislature Building, on side where the Dolphin Statue is located.
March for immigrant rights
It is a tragedy in our society that undocumented youth are barred from attending college in most circumstances—regardless of their merit and achievement. Through no fault of their own, many students who were brought here as children, are here without immigration status.
Advocates for Immigrant and Refugee Rights is asking for comprehensive immigration reform, the DREAM ACT, and in-state tuition.
With the conviction that education is a human right, four dedicated students began a treacherous trail on January 1, 2010, from Miami to Washington D. C.—on foot. On February 9, these student leaders from Students Working for Equal Rights, an affiliate organization of Advocates for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, will be passing through Tallahassee to tell their stories.
